The Alaska Community Foundation was established in 1995 as a way to strengthen communities
by assisting individuals and organizations in creating charitable funds.

This year, they received a challenge grant from the Rasmuson Foundation. Between now and the end of 2011,
They will be raising $100,000 in unrestricted funds that will be matched
dollar-for-dollar by the Rasmuson Foundation.

Foundation focuses on growing philanthropy throughout Alaska. They distribute funds in three major categories:

Competitive grants -- those for which nonprofits compete based on pre-set requirements

Donor advised grants -- given based on the advice of donors, often with our recommendations

Scholarships -- funds distributed to individuals for educational purposes based on pre-set criteria.
